Rules & Regulations
FIFA Rules and Regulation applies. In addition we have implemented our own in house rules to promote FAIR PLAY and reward those who display SPORTSMANSHIP gestures in and off the pitch. Likewise ANYONE who brings the game into disrepute will be severly dealt with.
SPORTSMANSHIP means playing clean and accepting both victory and defeat with grace and dignity. In competition as in life you may not always win but you can learn something from losing too. When you lose, D'ONT take it out on your opponent or blame the ref. LOSE WITH CLASS. Be aware of things you need to improve for next time or at least be proud of how you have performed. Accepting the game outcome without fuss even if you feel the ref made some questionable calls. GOOD LOSERS EARN MORE RESPECT THAN BAD WINNERS.
Observe the laws of the game. The rules are simple and easy. Learn them so you understand the game and it will make you a better player. When referees make a call. accept it even if it goes against you. Referees may not be right all the time but they are people who are doing their best just as you are.
Stay cool even if others are losing their tempers. It doesn't mean you have too. AVOID SETTLING DISPUTES WITH VIOLENCE. D'ont fight fire with fire. If you can't see eye to eye don't seek and eye for an eye. IT IS AFTER ALL JUST A GAME.
Cheating brings no pleasure and victory becomes meaningless. PLAYING FAIR is more satisfying even when the game is lost.
THE PENALTY
Any teams who accumulate 16 yellow cards or 8 red cards will have 3 points deducted.
Kick Off Punctionality
All games need to commence at the scheduled kick off time.
A game should commence once both teams have at least 8 players. The team short of players cannot request to wait for the remaining players to turn up before starting. If a team is unable to have eight players 20 minutes after the allotted kick-off time, the game shall be cancelled and awarded to the opposition on the basis of a 3-0 win.
Both teams can decide to play a friendly match (after the 20 mins) utilising the referee in which case “no show” rule will not be applied (in terms of cost) and both teams will be charged as per usual.
The game must finish by the stipulated time above.
The above terms are to protect the integrity of the league and to encourage teams to turn up to matches to be ready to kick off at the allotted kick off time. Except for bad weather / lightening all matches must be finished by the scheduled slot time. Referees will be asked to enforce this rule to be fair for the team turning up on schedule.
LATENESS.
Making everyone wait is showing disrespect to the opponent, referee and organiser. KICKOFF TIME IS 5.20PM and 9.20AM FOR THE SUN AM League. REFEREE DECIDES THE TIME ON HIS WATCH.
This rule is imposed as it is imperative all teams should arrive at the field at least 20 mins before scheduled kick off time to ensure sufficient time to get changed and for the teams pre-match pep talk / warm up.
PTICHES
All games will be played on pitches determined by SUNDOWNERS LEAGUE subject that these fields are of a good standard.
Team managers of both teams should perform a spot check of the pitch before the games commences to remove any objects (stones etc) from the field of play. The team managers should also check to ensure the nets of the pitches are tied correctly. Any issues should be reported to the referee and the pitch worker at the field who will resolve the issue immediately.
Any damage to the goalposts or surrounding areas (windows, cars, etc) are the full responsibility of the team to the pitch provider.
APPEALS
No appeals are possible for RED CARDs as we do not have Video evidence at each pitch and that we must support our referees. This is also to make sure that all matches are consistent.
LIABILITY & MEDICAL
All teams and their players will release SUNDOWNERS LEAGUE and its agents, sponsors and employees from any and all responsibility and liability for, any injury, loss, death or other damage incurred to the team or their players, their family, heirs, assigns and/or property, howsoever caused, as a result of the team’s and their players participation in any of the football league activities and/or use of equipment and/or facilities in connection with the football league activities.
